What Are the Different Types of Woven Labels?
Types of Woven Labels
One of LIJIE's most popular requests for apparel labels is woven labels. These labels are created using jacquard weaving and come in materials such as damask, satin, or taffeta, allowing customers to achieve high-quality designs at affordable prices and with quick turnaround times.
What Are "Density" and "Denier"?
Density refers to how tightly the threads are woven.
Higher density means the pattern is more vivid and detailed.
Lower density can result in a "grainy" or "broken" effect.
Denier refers to the thickness of the yarn.
Lower denier means finer yarns and more delicate detail presentation.
CruzLabel offers standard 50-denier yarn (high definition), and also provides 100-denier yarn for designs that aim for a coarser, more textured look.
Three Main Types of Woven Labels
1. Damask Woven Labels
Material: Matte polyester
Features:
Highest density with rich details and vibrant colors
Uses 50-denier high-definition yarn
Pantone color matching available for accurate color reproduction
Can incorporate Lurex thread for a metallic shimmer—great for highlighting logos or brand names
Can be combined with satin or taffeta materials
2. Satin Woven Labels
Material: Shiny polyester
Features:
Smooth surface, comfortable against the skin
Ideal for high-end casual wear such as party dresses, men’s suits, or lingerie
Lower density, suitable for simple designs
Typically uses solid black or very light pastel background colors
Weave structure is more visible than damask, suitable for retro or low-contrast color designs
3. Taffeta Woven Labels
Material: Coarse, low-density polyester
Features:
Slightly transparent look, suitable for vintage or outdoor clothing and footwear
Because of its stiffness, not ideal for direct skin contact (e.g., inside garment labels)
Prominent weave structure gives it a nostalgic, old-fashioned feel
Though somewhat outdated, it remains a favorite among designers seeking a distinctive label appearance
Each type of woven label has its own unique texture and use case. Choosing the right label type for your brand's style and purpose can enhance your product’s professional appearance and help it stand out through thoughtful details.
