2026 Latest Clothing Brand Woven Label Purchasing Guide
Clothing Brand Woven Label Purchasing Guide
After the design, fabric and pattern are finalized, clothing labels are often easily overlooked. However, many designers are not familiar with professional knowledge such as woven label craftsmanship, yarn types and folding methods.
LIJIE specializes in the customization of various clothing labels, providing professional solutions for both independent designers and established brands. This guide summarizes the key points of woven label customization for beginners to make ordering clearer.

What is a woven label?
A woven label is a label with patterns directly woven from yarns. Unlike surface-printed labels, the patterns are integrated with the fabric, with characters and graphics formed by interwoven yarns.
Two major advantages:
• Durable: No fading, cracking or peeling after hundreds of washes.
• Excellent texture: Delicate to the touch, obviously superior to ordinary printed labels in grade.
Woven labels are not suitable for complex gradients and photo-level details, but ideal for logos, characters and simple graphics of most brands.
Two common weaving processes
Jacquard Craftsmanship
Finer yarns, smooth surface and clear details. Suitable for thin lines, small characters and complex logos, with an exquisite and high-end texture.
Satin Craftsmanship
Thicker yarns with obvious textures. Suitable for large characters, simple logos and large-block graphics. It is stiff and fits well.
Most brands prioritize jacquard craftsmanship for a balance of detail and durability.
Materials: Polyester vs Cotton
• Polyester: The industry mainstream, durable, high color fastness, wide color selection and cost-effective.
• Cotton: Soft and natural, suitable for brands with a natural and organic style, but average in detail expression and limited in color options.
LIJIE’s suggestion: Choose cotton for eco-friendly and minimalist styles; prioritize polyester in other cases.
Sizes & Folding Methods
Common width: 1–2.5 inches; length customized according to content.
• Center fold: Commonly used for main labels on collars, sewn after folding in half.
• End fold: Suitable for hem labels and exposed labels.
• Miter fold: Can be made with hanging loops, for coats and sweaters.
• Straight cut: Four sides cut and overlocked, applicable to clothing, hats, bags and other products.
Simple selection: Center fold for collars; end fold or straight cut for exposed labels.
Colors & Color Matching
A single woven label supports a maximum of 8 colors, with 2–4 colors commonly used and 3–4 colors being the most cost-effective. The base color is also counted in the total number of colors. Gradient logos need to be simplified to solid-color designs.
LIJIE matches colors according to Pantone numbers to restore brand colors as accurately as possible.
Customization Process
1. Provide files: AI/EPS/vector PDF preferred; bitmap files can be converted to vectors on your behalf.
2. Confirm parameters: Craftsmanship, material, size, folding method and colors. If unsure, inform the application position and we will recommend for you.
3. Inquiry & quotation: Submit requirements for a quick quotation.
4. Proof confirmation: Check the effect drawing before production; no modifications allowed after finalization.
5. Production & delivery: Regular lead time 1–2 weeks, rush orders available.
Common Mistakes for Beginners
• Labels are too small with too many characters, resulting in blurry text.
• Content is too close to the edge and blocked after sewing.
• Excessive trial order quantity leading to inventory waste.
• Excessive contrast between label color and clothing, affecting the overall effect.
